The groundbreaking ceremony for the Joint Cavern Development at Anderson Quarry Site was successfully held on November 6, 2023, marking the official commencement of the project.

The officiating guests included:
Mr. FONG Hok Shing, Director of Civil Engineering and Development Department; Dr. CHEUNG Wai Man, Chief Engineer of Geotechnical Engineering Office, CEDD; Mr. CHEUNG Ping Yip, Deputy Chief Engineer of Geotechnical Engineering Office, CEDD; Mr. CHAN Chun Tak, Deputy Director of the Chief Secretary for Administration's Office; Mr. Johnny CHEUK, Vice President of AECOM Asia Company Limited; Mr. HUNG Cheung Shew, Chairman of CSHK and Mr. ZHANG Ming, Vice President of CSHK.

The Geotechnical Engineering Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department signed a contract of HK$3,970 million on 11 July 2023 with China State – Alchmex Joint Venture for carrying out the Joint Cavern Development at Anderson Road Quarry Site.
